The first patch of the MapleStory Destiny update has been released! This contains a ton of quality of life improvements from the Voice of Maplers initiative as well as new boss difficulties and a new boss accessory set. And of course, the winter update events like the Starlight Symphony and Burning World.

The next test world update will be on January 6 and that’s when we’ll see the full Adventurer remaster! The MapleStory team also announced the Destiny Live Talk, a live broadcast that will be held on January 5 at 6PM KST where they’ll give some more detailed information about the update and have a Q&A session with players.

    Changes from KMST ver. 1.2.133

The following changes have been made to the Starlight Symphony event.

    • In the Starlight Melody Coin Shop, the Event Ring Only Legendary Potential Scroll has been changed from being untradeable to being able to be put into storage.
    • The Starlight Chariot’s Stella Pass cost has been changed from 39,800 Maple Points to 19,800 Maple Points.
    • The Starlight Chariot’s Selective Symbol Voucher has been changed from rewarding 100 Arcane Symbols/20 Authentic Symbols to 200 Arcane Symbols/40 Authentic Symbols.
    • The Event Ring Only Meister Cube‘s purchase limit has been changed from 50 per world to 100 per world.

    Developer Notes:

Certain event items’ quantities, prices, and limits were released in the test server without being checked carefully.

For the Event Ring Only Legendary Potential Scroll, we recognized that it had incorrect details and decided to fix it immediately when it was released to the official server. Also, we adjusted the quantity of Symbol items and Event Ring Only Meister Cubes since we decided that the quantity was not enough to support players’ growth.

We sincerely apologize for the above adjustments, and we will do our best to avoid giving negative experiences to players by checking things more thoroughly in the future.

The following changes have been made to the Dawn’s Boss set.

    • The Guardian Angel Ring will remain as a part of the Boss Accessory set.
    • A new item called the Guardian Angel Ring Conversion Scroll has been added, which lets you choose to include the Guardian Angel Ring in the Dawn’s Boss set.
    • If a Guardian Angel Ring is included in the Dawn’s Boss set, it will not be included in the Boss Accessory set.
    • You can talk to the Village Chief Slime NPC in Ramuramu Hot Springs to receive the Guardian Angel Ring Conversion Scroll.

    Developer Notes:

We have kept the Guardian Angel Ring as part of the Boss Accessory set so that the playing experience of players who were using the Boss Accessory set with the Guardian Angel Ring would not change. Instead, we have provided a scroll that you can use to optionally include the ring in the Dawn’s Boss set and follow the intended accessory growth path. We sincerely apologize for not taking these things into consideration when the change was made in the first place.

The Twilight Mark’s number of slots has been changed from 5 to 3.

The Dawn’s Boss set‘s 3-set effect’s boss damage has been moved to the 2-set effect.

    Developer Notes:

The effectiveness of the new Twilight Mark and Dawn’s Boss accessory set was very high, and the existing Pitched Boss set’s Lose Control Machine Mark became relatively less useful. It was unintential for a Pitched Boss set item to have lower effectiveness than a Dawn’s Boss set item, so we have adjusted the Twilight Mark’s number of slots and the effects of the Dawn’s Boss set.

The cumulative experience required to level up from level 250~259 has been decreased by about 16%.

    Developer Notes:

In the July developer comments about the discussion board, after adding the new hunting grounds in Limen, we promised additional adjustments for the level 250~259 section in the winter update where the experience required to level up was not adjusted in the Neo update.

However, we were unable to confirm the details and proceeded with the test world update omitting this. When this is updated on the official server, we would like to improve the character growth experience in that section by adjusting the experience required to level up.

We sincerely apologize for not carefully checking the promises we made to players and for implementing them late.

When entering Black Mage (Practice Mode), it was intended for it not to consume Fragments of Destiny, but this was omitted and they were consumed. As intended, we have changed it so that you can challenge Black Mage (Practice Mode) without consuming your Fragments of Destiny.

The Growing Sprout Name Tag Ring and Chat Bubble Ring from the level 30 Maple Guide rewards have been changed from expiring in 30 days to being permanent.

On January 5, 2022 at 6 PM, we will hold a time to communicate with players in real time.

    Developer Notes:

Hello, this is MapleStory’s general director Kang Won-ki.

We talked about the winter update during the Destiny showcase, but we desperately felt that there were many shortcomings in what we covered and how we explained it.

Although it’s very late, we have set up a time to communicate with players in real time and talk about things we didn’t fully explain in the showcase.

    See you soon. Thank you.

The cumulative experience required to level up from level 250~259 has been decreased by about 16%.

The Maple Guide has been improved.

    • The recommended quests/hunting grounds for each level provided by the Guide have been changed to be more appropriate.
    • Certain recommended quests’ experience rewards have been increased, and the number of monsters or items required has been decreased so quests will now take less time to complete.
    • The number of areas that can be moved to using Quick Move have been greatly increased. You can unlock the ability to move to specific towns and monster maps by completing the quest lines or defeating a certain number of monsters.
    • The Quick Move Favourites feature has been added to make it easier to teleport to frequently used areas. You can select 10 areas which will always be displayed on the main page at the bottom.
    • The Quick Move feature has a 30 second cooldown.
    • When you reach certain conditions, you will now be given the following rewards, once per world.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
※ The Growing Sprout title gives 10 all stats, 500 HP/MP, 5 attack/magic attack, 10% additional experience, and 30 Star Force, and the stats expire in 90 days.

※ The Growing Sprout Weapon gives 3 attack/magic attack, the stats expire in 1 week.

※ The Dream Tree medal gives 4 all stats, 200 HP/MP, and 2 attack/magic attack.

    Developer Notes:

In the Maple Guide improvements, the recommendations and quest efficiency have been improved so that character growth can be achieved easily just by completing the quests until level 200. In addition, to further enhance the ‘Quick Move’ which was a main feature of the Maple Guide, the number of areas you can teleport to have been increased from 43 towns and 21 maps to 66 towns and 107 maps. Finally, we would like to help players who are exploring Maple World for the first time by providing rewards when they reach certain levels/job advancements to make it easier for them to adapt.

In the test world, you could select ‘Storage Slots’ from the ‘Selective 8 Slot Expansion Coupons’ from the Maple Guide, but this option has been removed in the official server. This is because the difference in the reward experience could vary greatly depending on the choice of rewards which can only be received once per world. In addition, since the number of places you can move to has been greatly expanded, there was a risk of errors occuring if players moved maps too frequently, so we invevitably had to add a 30-second cooldown. We apologize for any inconvience.
    [IMG] [IMG]
Arcane River area story quests’ clear records will now be shared between characters in the same world, and a Story Skip feature has been added.

    • If there is at least one character in the same world that has completed all of the story quests, other characters can skip the story of those quests.
    • If you skip the quests, you will receive a summary of that area’s story.
    • If you skip the quests, all related quests will be completed and you will receive all item rewards. However, you will not receive the experience rewards.
    • You can choose to skip the pre-quests when doing the first quest in each area. However, characters who have already completed the first quest and begun the story quests cannot choose to skip them.

    • If a character in the same world has completed the boss pre-quests, other characters can use the Boss UI to access the entry maps without clearing the pre-quests.
    • Boss content’s prequests can still be completed normally by individual characters.

※ When a character who has cleared a boss’ story quests uses World Leap, that character must visit the waiting maps for each boss content once in order for other characters in that world to be able to skip the boss pre-quests.

    • 2 party members: 15 inputs
    • 3 party members: 20 inputs

Will (Easy Mode) has been added. It requires 560 Arcane Force (as opposed to 760 Arcane Force for Normal/Hard Mode). In terms of difficulty, it is between Easy Lucid and Normal Lucid.

Jin Hilla (Normal Mode) has been added. It requires 900 Arcane Force (the same as Hard Jin Hilla). In terms of difficulty, it is between Hard Will and Chaos Guardian Angel Slime.

Chosen Seren (Normal Mode) has been added. It requires 150 Authentic Force for phase 1 and 200 Authentic Force for phase 2 (the same as Hard Chosen Seren). In terms of difficulty, it is between Hard Dunkel and Black Mage.

Mileage quests related to the new boss difficulties have been added. Achievements related to the new boss difficulties have been added.

    Developer Notes:

For certain boss sections, there was a problem where the difficulty to reach the next level of bosses was too high, reducing the desire to challenge them. To make it easier to move from boss to boss, we wanted to present new challenge goals by adding Easy Will, Normal Jin Hilla, and Normal Chosen Seren, where characters can naturally challenge the next difficulty boss as they grow.
Boss Accessory Set Additions and Reorganization

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
The Dawn’s Boss Set has been added.

    • The Dawn’s Boss Set consists of the following 4 items:
      • Twilight Mark [Level 140 Face Accessory] (can be acquired from Normal/Hard Lucid and Normal/Hard Will, tradeable until equipped)
      • Estella Earrings [Level 160 Earrings] (can be acquired from Normal/Chaos Dusk and Normal/Hard Dunkel, tradeable until equipped)
      • Dawn’s Guardian Angel Ring [Level 160 Ring] (can be acquired by using a Guardian Angel Ring Set Conversion Scroll on a Guardian Angel Ring from Normal/Chaos Guardian Angel Slime, tradeable until equipped)
      • Daybreak Pendant [Level 140 Pendant] (can be acquired from Normal/Hard Jin Hilla and Normal/Hard Seren, tradeable until equipped)
    • The Dawn’s Boss Set‘s set effects are as follows.

The Guardian Angel Ring Set Conversion Scroll has been added, which lets you change the Guardian Angel Ring from being included in the Boss Accessory set to being included in the Dawn’s Boss set.

    • The Guardian Angel Ring Set Conversion Scroll can only be used on the Guardian Angel Ring. When used, the ring will be changed into the Dawn’s Guardian Angel Ring and will be included in the Dawn’s Boss set.
    • Dawn’s Guardian Angel Rings that had the Guardian Angel Ring Set Conversion Scroll will be permanently excluded from the Boss Accessory set.
    • The Guardian Angel Ring Set Conversion Scroll can be purchased with 10 million mesos by completing the ‘[Ramuramu] Dawn’s Guardian Angel Ring’ quest from the Village Chief Slime in Ramuramu Hot Springs.

※ The Guardian Angel Ring Set Conversion Scroll will expire 14 days after purchase and is untradeable.

※ If a Guardian Angel Ring or Dawn’s Guardian Angel Ring’s Trace are passed to a Guardian Angel Ring, the usage of the Set Conversion Scroll will be applied in the same way as the Trace that is being used.

※ If you combine a Guardian Angel Ring and a Dawn’s Guardian Angel Ring, you will receive an unconverted Guardian Angel Ring regardless of whether or not the material items were converted.

※ The ‘[Ramuramu] Dawn’s Guardian Angel Ring’ quest can be completed repeatedly.

Achievements related to the new accessories have been added.

    Developer Notes:

The Pitched Boss Set is difficult to acquire and the burden of enhancing them is very high, so many players used regular boss accessories with relatively lower enhancement limits or accessories with no set effects. The newly added Dawn’s Boss Accessory set is designed to fill the gap between existing accessories and the Pitched Boss accessories. We would like to provide a new option for combinations and growth for accessory parts that haven’t been changed for a long time.

In addition, we expect that by providing these equipment as new rewards from higher tier bosses, it will make challenging bosses more enjoyable.

The Pitched Boss Set’s set effects have been reorganized.

    Developer Notes:

Even though all the Pitched Boss set items have very high acquisition difficulties, the 8th and 9th items equipped did not receive set effects so there was a problem where the items’ effectiveness was low. By adding new set effects this time, we want to improve their effectiveness and under the same standards of enhancements, prevent the loss of stats when changing equipment from the Dawn’s Boss set to the Pitched Boss set.

    [IMG] [IMG]
When you enter a map with monsters within your level range, the Shining Shooting Star skill will be activated automatically. After you defeat 500 monsters, the Shining Shooting Star attack will hit monsters around you and then summon 10 Star monsters.

The Star Bridge event will run from December 30 to January 26. It is available to characters level 200 or higher.

Go to outer space together with other players and join the stars to create wonderful constellations!

You can talk to Nekkar in the Starlit Point to participate in either Quick Start or Party Play. You can only use Quick Start if you are not in a party, and you will play the game with two other players who have used Quick Start. You can participate in Party Play with a party of 1-3 people.

A minimum of 1 to a maximum of 3 players can play the game, for 30 minutes. When the game starts, the UI on the right side of the screen will show the constellation image that needs to be created.

You can approach purple stars and press the [NPC Chat/Harvest] key to put the constellation in connected mode. This mode will last for only 20 seconds, and will end when the time limit elapses. You can then go to other purple stars and press the [NPC Chat/Harvest] key to connect them. However, they will only be connected if they match the constellation image you must complete exactly.

When the constellation is complete, you will begin the next stage. The game ends when a total of 3 stages are completed.

You can obtain rewards by talking to Nekkar in the exit map. If the game ended properly by completing the 3rd stage, you will acquire experience and progress for the Stella’s Starlight Chariot daily mission.

※ You can acquire the experience rewards up to 2 times per day per world.

※ If you received the experience rewards twice, you can still participate in the game but you will not acquire additional rewards.

※ From level 260 and higher, you will acquire the same amount of experience as level 260.

※ If you quit the game without completing the 3rd stage, you will not receive rewards.

※ If you leave the game before the game ends, you will be given a 5-minute entry restriction penalty (all characters within the same world will be blocked from entering Quick Start).

※ If you don’t move for about 30 seconds, you will be forced to leave and be given a 30-minute entry restriction penalty (all characters within the same world will be blocked from entering Quick Start).

    -coming soon-

Here’s a video of how to play the game! The spacing is kinda tricky at first but it will probably get easier after you play it a few times.
