A week before its release in the official servers, a new patch has arrived to the test servers containing Morass, skill balancing, changes to boss rewards, and more! Swamp of Memory, Morass Click to view slideshow. The new area of Arcane River, the Swamp of Memory, Morass, has been added. Characters who are level 230 or higher and have completed the ‘Forest of Regained Harmony’ quest in Arcana can talk to the Flying Fish in the Four Path Cave to fly to Morass. In Morass, you will meet the girl who caused Arcana to fall into chaos, Tana. The most interesting thing about Morass is that although it starts off in the Coral Forest, it eventually changes into Trueffet, the royal palace of Kritias. This is because Morass is a swamp that changes based on the memory of those who enter it. As a survival technique, the Erdas here imitate the appearance of enemies from your own memories. The Flying Fish actually gets some funny dialogue saying it is an Erda that likes being a fish with giant wings, which is really whimsical even in its own eyes (until the player tells it that flying fish exist in Maple World already). Tana, who passed through Morass just before the player, caused the entire surrounding area to react and take the form of her memories. The Flying Fish explains that it happened due to her immense power over Erda, even stronger than the Black Mage who passed by before her. There are also some very interesting NPCs such as Arkarium (a young version?) and Hekaton (non-giant monster version!). The following monsters have been added. (Lv. 236) Memory Generoid Type A (Lv. 236) Memory Generoid Type B (Lv. 236) Memory Generoid Type C (Lv. 237) Unnamed Cat (Lv. 238) Tough Elder Brother (Lv. 238) Strong Elder Brother (Lv. 239) Blue Shadow (Lv. 240) Red Shadow (Lv. 241) Experiment’s Byproduct A (Lv. 241) Experiment’s Byproduct B (Lv. 242) Controlled Soldier A (Lv. 243) Controlled Soldier B (Lv. 244) Controlled Magician A (Lv. 245) Controlled Magician B The following NPCs have been added. Time to Papulatus The boss Papulatus’ battle patterns have been renewed. A variety of actions and new attack patterns have been added. New mechanical devices have been installed at the base of the clock tower to disrupt characters. The entry methods are the same as before. You can enter from the base of the clock tower on the lowest floor. To summon Papulatus, you will need a Piece of the Dimensional Crack, which can be received from the NPC Flo in the Passage of Time after completing related quests. Easy Mode and Chaos Mode have been added. You can enter Easy/Normal Mode 1 time per day (the limit is shared between them). You can clear Chaos Mode 1 time per week. The existing Papulatus in Mu Lung Dojo and Cross Hunter will keep the old patterns. Here’s a video of a player showing off the various mechanics of the fight. I think I figured out most of them but note that the information might be a little incorrect since I haven’t actually fought him yet. Both Phases Along the top of the map, there will be crane machines that will periodically move up and down. If you are caught by them, you will be stunned in place for a certain period of time. There will be red and blue lasers on two sides of the clock which will rotate in place. If the two lasers touch, they will activate a screen shatter effect (like Arkarium) that one shots everyone. You need to block the lasers with your characters to avoid this. At the top of the screen, below the timer, there is a red clock that starts ticking down from 3:00 minutes. Once it hits 0, Papulatus will summon falling winding keys (like Magnus meteors). They will fall randomly for 30 seconds. I’m not sure if they both one shot or not but there’s two kinds, yellow and purple. Phase 1 Papulatus can summon blue clocks on the ground which will explode after a short time and one-shot anyone on it. You need to avoid these horizontally as they will hit people even if they’re on platforms above it. Papulatus can create time rifts on the ground which will one-shot anyone standing in them until they disappear. You can avoid them by standing on the platforms above them or by moving away from them. You and Papulatus will have a clock over your heads. If that clock hits 0, your skills will be sealed for a certain period of time. To avoid this, you must defeat the Tick Tocks and Chronos around the map and loot the clocks they drop which can either double or halve the remaining time. After you defeat the first phase, Papulatus will enter his sleeping mode. During this time, the clock in the middle will be divided into 6 sections with numbers such as 0%/1%/10%/100%. After a certain period of time, Papulatus will reappear and heal himself based on the sum of the remaining sections of the clock. To avoid this, you must defeat the Dark Stars around the map and loot the drops they have to advance the clock 10/30/50 minutes/2/4/9 hours and get rid of the sections by landing on them. Phase 2 Papulatus’ second phase uses a projectile attack where he throws a gear at you (don’t think this one shots). Papulatus will summon a bunch of Other World’s Papulatus which are weaker and will fly around and attack you. Papulatus can use a time bomb similar to Urus and Lucid, which will divide the damage among nearby party members. Papulatus can also forcefully teleport you (like Chaos Von Bon). New Papulatus related rewards have been added. Papulatus Mark (8 all stats, 1 attack/magic attack, 150 defense, 5 slots, tradeable until equipped, Lv. 145, eye accessory, part of the Boss Accessory set) Papulatus’ Clock Chair Papulatus’ Soul Fragment Papulatus’ Soul has been added. Cooldown: 120 seconds. Papulatus’ soul has been added to the Soul Collector. (Woah, is it just me that only now realized there are 3 Papulatus things inside the clock? I didn’t even notice them in Papulatus’ existing animations!) Normal: Ruler of dimensions! Hidden: Yearning… Boss Reward Reorganization You will now receive meso rewards based on the difficulty of a boss. When you defeat a boss, you will receive a Powerful Strength Crystal. The Powerful Strength Crystal is a time-limited etc item. Its value is based on the difficulty of the defeated boss and the number of party members who participated. In Reboot World, its value will be even higher. You can sell the Crystal to the Collector in the Free Market to receive mesos equal to its value. The Collector will only buy 60 Crystals per week.
